Rights and Permissions

The Iowa State University Digital Press is an open access publisher. All our publications are free to read and download.

Most of our publications are published under a Creative Commons license, which explicitly grant permission to reuse the publication. The types of reuse allowed vary by license, which will be specified for each publication. All Creative Commons licenses require that attribution is provided, including the creator and source information, and links to the original work and its associated license.

For permission to reuse publications in ways not specified under the selected Creative Commons license, or, to reuse works not published under a Creative Commons license, contact the copyright owner of the work. For works originally published by the Digital Press, this will be the author(s) of the publication. The copyright owner(s) for works originally published by a different publisher may vary. When known, the copyright owner(s) will be identified in the publication’s metadata. Any reuse of our publications should be properly cited, with a link to the original publication.

The Iowa State University Digital Press is a separate entity from the Iowa State University Press, and we do not own the copyright in works published by the Iowa State University Press. We are unable to grant permission to reuse works published by the Iowa State University Press.

We provide access to books originally published by the Iowa State University Press that are believed to be in the public domain. These works are considered to be no longer in copyright.

Self-Archiving
