The Dr. Isaac Gottesman Featured Contribution to Critical Thought and Praxis is a singular piece of scholarship designated by the Journal of Critical Thought and Praxis board every production cycle that uniquely represents the mission of JCTP. The selected or invited article will be one that strongly depicts and represents the uniqueness of interdisciplinary, critical scholarship. Further, the piece of work chosen as Dr. Isaac Gottesman Featured Contribution to Critical Thought and Praxis will show the importance of critical theory and the importance of advocating with and for the marginalized.

The Dr. Isaac Gottesman Featured Contribution to Critical Thought and Praxis is named for JCTP advisor Isaac Gottesman, who served in this capacity from 2013-2018 while at Iowa State University. In that time, he supervised the production of over 10 issues of the Journal of Critical Thought and Praxisallowing a young, graduate-student-run journal to establish and stabilize itselfDr. Gottesman’s critical research intersects the history of education, history of academic fields and disciplines (specifically humanities and social sciences and interdisciplinary, e.g. education and Jewish studies), and social and cultural foundations in teacher preparation. The editorial board created this distinction to thank him for his immeasurable mentorship and guidance to the journal as well as the careers of many emerging scholars.
