Abstract

This Applied Learning Activity (ALA) accompanies chapter 2, Sources of Parental Germplasm, in Plant Breeding Methods. It examines how plant breeders can exploit the sources of parental germplasm of Bambara groundnut to define objectives on crop utilization, stakeholder needs, crop genetics, and characteristics to transform this crop from being underutilized to an opportunity crop. The Applied Learning Activities (ALAs) and recommended readings were developed with funding provided by CIMMYT’s USAID-VACS Coalition Project under Subgrant #DCP_2025_216.
