Abstract

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH): In March, this column reported that President Clinton had recommended a FY ’96 budget of $182 million for the National Endowment for the Humanities. On August 9, the Senate leadership reached a compromise to appropriate $110 million each to the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts. The FY ’95 budget for NEH, which was initially set at $177 million, was recently reduced to $172 million by rescission legislation.
