Genealogy Sites on the World Wide Web — Part Two
- Stacy B. Gould (Michigan State University)
Abstract
In the first part of this article I discussed some of the popular search engines you can use to find web sites having to do with genealogy. I covered Magellan, Lycos, Excite, Yahoo!, and Infoseek. There are many others available and most can be downloaded gratis. Among the many that I did not discuss, but that you might like to try, are Alta Vista, Webcrawler, Accufind, Open Text Index, HotBot, and Bigfoot. The following Web sites are arranged roughly by type. There is an URL for each site along with the name and a brief annotation. The first group consists of those pages that I found most useful as reference guides.
