AUDIO-VISUAL RESOURCES FOR ARCHIVISTS ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB

Abstract

The World Wide Web is becoming increasingly important as a tool for audio‑visual archivists and archivists that find themselves responsible for an increasing number of audio‑visual materials within their collections. A formal education in dealing with archival material on film, magnetic tape, vinyl, optical and any other variety of media, is not usually readily available to most archivists. Very often then, such information is gathered through literature, professional conferences and networking. The Internet offers a new opportunity for an archivist to gather information about an archive’s specific needs.
