Abstract

The fact that MAC exists—much less prospers—is due to the volunteer efforts of its members much more than to the dues or registration fees we pay. This is about as self‑evident a statement as one can make about MAC, and yet in some respects it is not so evident. Several incidents and issues over the last two years have made me wonder whether the almost mystic chords (forgive me, Abe) of MAC volunteerism didn’t need some thought and attention.
