Resurrecting the First American West: A Digital Humanities Project
- Hailey Brangers (Filson Historical Society)
Abstract
Our understanding of the American frontier often comes from the perspectives of European settlers and explorers. Yet history is incomplete without considering the experiences of all the groups that inhabited these lands—including Native Americans, enslaved people, and women. The First American West (FAW) project seeks to digitally document and preserve the often-untold histories of all those who helped shape the American frontier in the Ohio River Valley from 1750 to 1820.
