Abstract

I hope you’ve all had a relaxing and festive fall and had the chance to enjoy some time away from work. I was lucky enough to take a road trip to the Grand Canyon in September—the first time I’ve seen it. We started the trip in Flagstaff, and my husband ran (yes, ran) 100 miles north to the Grand Canyon, while I drove through bumpy dirt forest service roads to meet him at various checkpoints. One of my favorite memories of the trip is sitting outside in the complete darkness of the early hours of the morning, staring up at the stars and Milky Way while helping other runners find the course in the dark. We also kayaked through Lake Powell to reach Antelope Canyon, which was a gorgeous hike. It turns out we don’t plan very relaxing vacations, but I love any chance to get outside and spend time in nature, and I certainly got to do that this year. Since getting back, I’ve been hard at work with meeting planning and getting all the VP business in order for the next person to take over in May!
