A Challenge for MAC's Future Relationships with State and Local Archival Organizations
- William J. Maher
Abstract
The closing decades of the twentieth century are an exciting time to be an archivist. There are formidable challenges posed by the growing volume of records, the unstable materials on which information is recorded, and the problems caused by new information technologies. The increased interest in historical research by steadily broadening communities also makes these stimulating archival times. This period is made particularly exhilarating by the steady growth in the number and quality of archivists, archival institutions, and archival organizations.
