Abstract

Consider how we are currently creating records. As an archivist—whether you work in an academic institution, corporation, organization, or special library—you are responsible for taking care of records that have never existed in paper format. In our personal lives, we're creating electronic correspondence, digital photographs, and electronic diaries. The written format is changing its nature, and archivists stand at the receiving end of these materials. Whether it is the electronic records of our organization or a collection of donated personal papers that happen to be in electronic format, many of us wonder just what we're supposed to do with it all.
