NEH Awards $4 Million to MAC States

Abstract
In December 2008, the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) announced grants totaling $15.7 million to 42 states and the District of Columbia. Institutions in 12 of the 13 MAC states received awards that totaled more than $4 million. The grants in this cycle come from four of the NEH's major program areas—Challenge Grants, Preservation and Access, and Public Programs and Research—as well as special grant programs offered through NEH's Office of Digital Humanities. Within the MAC states, awards ranged from $1,000 outright to $750,000 in matching funds; Michigan had the most grant winners (13), and Ohio received the largest portion of the funds ($1,412,200).
