Minding the Details: Planning for a Graduate Student Conference
- Lisa Hooper (Indiana University)
Abstract
Last February, the IU student chapter of the Society of American Archivists (SAA) hosted its first graduate student conference in archives, rare books, and special collections. The conference, which included a preconference workshop, six student papers, tours, and an afternoon workshop, involved a lot of commitment, a bit of hard work, and a dash of flexibility. We discovered that organizing the event was not as difficult as we anticipated, and it proved an excellent venue for students to expand their personal knowledge base through the shared experiences of other participants.
