Home Movies, Part 1: Understanding the Genre
- Paul Eisloeffel
Abstract
When it comes to American cinema, theatrical feature filmmaking has long commanded the lion's share of attention. It has been intricately studied as both a mirror of and an influence on society, and it has benefited from the earliest and the most film preservation efforts. When you think about it, this makes sense; after all, there's a lot of money behind studio productions, and we are, like it or not, a culture of mass entertainment.
