Vice President's Column: MAC Meetings Update

Abstract
Although my term as your vice president officially ended on April 18, Doug Bicknese (your incoming VP) generously allowed me the last word. I have learned a lot of things during my two-year term, and as always, I am amazed at the hard work and dedication illustrated by those who volunteer their time and efforts to organize and plan MAC meetings. It is a serious commitment from both a time and financial perspective. MAC's operating budget depends directly on the success of our meetings, and the more successful they are, the more the funding can be used to support future meetings. Columbus was a very successful meeting, and MAC Council was able to apply some of this revenue to support the Louisville meeting with the program design, printing, and mailing, as well as some of the reception costs. The cost of putting on a meeting has been growing incrementally over the last several years, and your MAC officers and Council members will be looking at this issue to see what we need to do to continue our success, and perhaps tweak our budgeting process.
