Archival Terminology; or, What Did You Just Call Me?
- Nancy Sandleback
Abstract
The other day I was commiserating with our IT person about something or other and mentioned the new words computers have added to our vocabulary. Words like phishing, spamming, and snail mail. Then I thought about the jargon, the unique language most professions have. You know, the equivalent of the Loyal Order of Water Buffalo's funny-uh, interesting-hats and secret handshakes; the "thing" that indicates you belong to a specific group.
