Abstract
Although there is probably considerable truth in a piece of advice I received upon election—that the greatest public service a president can perform for MAC is to be brief—this month I do think I really need two presidential letters rather than one. First, I would like to thank all those associated with the fall meeting for a wonderful conference. Equally important, I would like to share some thoughts about Council’s decision, made in Lincoln, to raise meeting registration fees and ask members for an increase in dues.
