THE LONE ARRANGER

Abstract
“Lone Arranger.” This dreaded title seemed amusing in the past when I had pored over newsletter columns by two archivists in Michigan’s remote Upper Peninsula. You are familiar with Erik Nordberg’s work in this column, but Marcus Robyns at Northern Michigan University also pens a “Lone Arranger, Junior” column in the Michigan Archival Association newsletter. Seems as if they spend a lot of their time sparring over the true sense of the title. Then again, what do you expect from two nonnative Yoopers who volunteered to relocate to an area known for its snowfall and large fungus patches? Their ongoing squabble over who is most unappreciated and who has fewer staff to shovel work onto is as long as their battle to grow better patches of hair on their mugs for display at the spring MAC meetings. I can hope only that I will not digress as much as this pair after I have become a Lone Arranger in December.
