Fall 2001 Meeting in Indianapolis

Abstract

“OAH’s commitment to collaboration also helps explain why this historian is here today in Indianapolis talking to a group of archivists. Although many of our colleagues—historians and archivists—would have us focus on what divides us and how we have gone our separate ways these last couple of decades, I value much more the ways we need each other and benefit from what each has to offer the other. This does not come from my recent OAH experience as executive director, but goes back to my earlier experiences in research. As a user of historical documents, I came to appreciate very much the advice I received from archivists in those institutions in which I was doing research.”
