MAC 2001 Minority Scholarship Award Recipient
- Maria E. Gonzalez
Abstract
Last winter the System Director and the General Director of the Archivo General de la Nación de Mexico (National Archives of Mexico, or AGN) visited the University of Texas at Austin (UT) and met formally with the students and faculty of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science. Through colloquia, lectures, and meetings, Juan Manuel Herrera and Dr. Stella Gonzalez Cicero described their plan to develop a network of state and municipal archives throughout Mexico, and provided information about an ambitious six-year program of projects organized under the rubric of “Preservation of the Memory of Mexico.” The express intent of these encounters was to attract the attention and participation of archival students.
