President’s Page

Abstract
As I write this (August 7), it’s 98 degrees outside with a heat index of 105 degrees! Those three days in Indianapolis in October are looking very, very good. But not only the weather is drawing my thoughts forward to Indy. Having just read through an electronic copy of the fall program (a perk of the presidency), I can’t wait to get there to partake in a great meeting. The LAC has outdone itself with a wonderful selection of tours featuring everything from sports to sex to the presidency, with the Civil War, Native Americans, and women’s suffrage thrown in for fun, a reception at the Indiana Historical Society, and a wonderful variety of cuisines for the restaurant tour. And the Program Committee has arranged two plenary sessions—one dealing with the challenges archivists and historians face in the 21st century, the other continuing the Nicholson Baker discussion—along with sessions and workshops on topics from fund-raising to copyright to information technology to oral history to mentoring to History Day to sex and sports (again). Please come join us in Indy and experience “Hoosier Hospitality” firsthand.
