Abstract

Goodbye, everyone. This will be my last “Archives & Archivists Listserv” column for MAC Newsletter. If anyone is interested in taking up the reins for this column, please contact Janet Carleton at carleton@ohio.edu. I have enjoyed writing this column, but I often wonder how useful it is to MAC members. The number of Listserv members is around 3,000 at this point. Although I do not have specific figures, I would estimate that there are typically 50–60 messages a day on weekdays. This makes a great deal of material to summarize. I have been writing this column for three years now and the traffic on the Listserv has increased over that time. I know that many archivists simply do not have time to wade through all the messages, but I wonder if a quarterly summary can really cover enough information to be useful. If you have any suggestions, comments, or if you have thought of a brilliant way you want to write the column, I will be happy to pass along information to Janet.
