President’s Page

Abstract
As I begin this letter, I find myself in a very reflective mood. First, because this is my last letter to you as MAC president. It is amazing how quickly these two years have gone by. I have worked with such terrific people, who I am not going to try to name because first, the list is much too long for the page this letter is allowed, and second, I would be afraid I might miss someone. But you all know who you are. Now, also know how much I appreciated every E-mail and phone call and letter and conversation at the meetings. Your support helped me get through the times I asked, “How in the world did I ever think I could do this?” and your questions helped keep me humble when I allowed myself to think, “How did I ever think I couldn’t do this?” And to the general membership, I want you, too, to know how much those E-mails and phone calls with questions or encouragement mean to the officers; hearing from one of you often brightened my entire day or made me think a little about why we do some of the things we do in MAC. What a wonderful experience it has been, and to each of you I say, if you are ever asked to run for MAC president, and you are in a position where you can, do. You won’t regret it.
