President’s Page
- Steve McShane
Abstract
Last December, SAA President Tim Ericson E-mailed me about a December 4 article in the Washington Post. Journalist Sewell Chan wrote, “City’s Records Center Compiles a History of Neglect,” describing the dismal condition of the Washington, D.C. Records Center. The center is housed in a ramshackle building, lacking any sort of environmental controls. Its security system is a metal garage door that is lowered at closing time. The center’s budget has been significantly reduced over the past decade or so. In sum, the D.C. Records Center is in a sad state, indeed.
