Abstract

In November 1971 Mrs. Alvin Bentley of Owosso, Michigan announced a gift to underwrite half of the costs of the Bentley Historical Library which would house the Michigan Historical Collections. The Library was named in honor and memory of her husband, Alvin M. Bentley, former Michigan Congressman and Regent of The University of Michigan. The building, designed by architects John Jickling and William Lyman of Birmingham, Michigan, opened for research in October 1973.
