Abstract

At the S.A.A. meeting several of the editors of regional newsletters met to discuss common problems. The two questions which received the most discussion were: "How do we stimulate involvement and response among our readers?" and "How much Ad Hoc authority should a newsletter editor assume?" All of us complained that (1) we hadfar too little reader involvement and (2) as a result, the editor is forced to assume too much authority. No really satisfactory solution was found. Oneeditor suggested that we should write outrageous, extreme articles so that the readers would have to start contributing material to balance their nutty editor's ideas. Surely there is a better solution. What do you think?
