Professional Advice
- Bob Garrett (Michigan Historical Center)
Abstract
Have you ever received reference calls from 'amateur archivists'? Some are people curious about our profession. Others might ask how to preserve family photographs or organize the records of a church or small organization. We can’t teach anyone to be archivists in a few minutes, of course. If that were possible, then we wouldn’t need our college degrees and years of experience! Sometimes, though, we can point to a helpful basic introduction or general overview.
