Abstract
I am honored and thankful to receive the 2013 Midwest Archives Conference Archie Motley Memorial Scholarship for Minority Students. It is a privilege to be chosen for a scholarship named in honor of a man so committed to advocating for the preservation of histories often dismissed. I am grateful to the Midwest Archives Conference for providing this valuable financial support that will go toward paying my tuition as I begin my first year at the University of California–Los Angeles (UCLA).
