Collaborative Indigenous OER

Abstract

This article aims to identify the tensions and promise at the intersection of open educational resources (OER), open educational practices (OEP), and decolonizing and Indigenizing approaches through the example of two OER created at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU). The goal of these OER was to invite faculty members, administrators, students, and future teachers to engage with Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) and relate them to their practice. We aimed to create accessible resources with the collaboration and support of Indigenous partners. OER provided a flexible platform for achieving these goals in a more straightforward and less costly way than traditional academic publishing.
