The Role of Functional-Expressive-Aesthetic-Tracking Dimension on Consumers’ Perception of Wearable Technology

Authors: ,

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the importance of tracking (T) dimension along with functional (F)-expressive (E)-aesthetic (A) dimensions, by considering them as a single dimension (FEAT), to predict consumers’ perception of wearables. An online survey was conducted among college students aged 18 years old and over at a large Midwestern university. The 380 usable data were used for the data analysis. The hypothesized model presented an adequate model fit,by knowing that 82% of consumers’ perception of wearables was explained by FEAT,perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and subjective norm. The findings highlight the importance of the FEAT dimension in predicting consumers’ perception of wearables. The result of this study would benefit future researchers to gain a better understanding of how the FEAT dimension plays a key role in creating wearables and their sustaining value. Limitations and implications are addressed in this study.
