A practical approach in teaching retail math to the transitional Millennials to Generation Z benefits the students and the instructor. By creating a student-centered project and incorporating a problem-based learning approach in the class, students' interest in the content and learning increases in the retail math class. Problem-based learning allows the instructor to present the theory and techniques that are needed for the students, have the student practice their learning through formative and summative learning, and apply all the knowledge that they accumulated to the 6-month final student project. The result shows that students are more engaged with the course content and can reference the final project on the job market.
