One aspect of sustainable fashion that I find fascinating is the challenge of making recycled fabrics appear anything but. Aesthetically, one would never guess that this elegant gown was once a dingy tablecloth. Thus, the title is ‘This Old Thing’. Because I acquired the fabric from an estate sale, very little was known about its age or the fiber content. However, I was able to discern that it was formerly a tablecloth based on its rectangular shape, linear seaming, and numerous stains.
