Abstract

As the fashion industry accelerates its adoption of digital technologies, integrating 3D garment simulation into design education has become increasingly important. This study compares digital prototyping using Browzwear VStitcher (VBS) with traditional physical prototyping in a 300-level fashion design course. Thirty students completed two parallel assignments to evaluate garment fit and construction using standardized slopers. Survey results showed notable improvements in technical proficiency, with 75% reporting enhanced digital skills and 91% indicating a stronger understanding of fit through tension and pressure mapping. Students also recognized sustainability benefits, with 87% noting reduced reliance on physical samples. Overall, findings demonstrate that digital tools improve design accuracy, efficiency, and industry alignment, underscoring the value of incorporating virtual prototyping into fashion curricula.
