Abstract

Indian weddings generate significant textile waste due to ornate garments worn only once, while emotional attachment limits the adoption of rental models. This study evaluates resin keepsakes as a sustainable alternative that preserves sentiment without full-garment storage. A two-week workshop in Warangal, India, engaged 20 participants in making UV-resin keepsakes using small fabric samples from wedding attire. Pre- and post-reflection interviews assessed changes in perceptions of garment rental. After receiving their keepsakes, 85% supported pairing keepsakes with rentals, noting reduced emotional resistance, while 90% acknowledged environmental and financial benefits. Findings indicate resin keepsakes may provide a culturally sensitive pathway to sustainable bridal fashion by balancing emotional preservation and waste reduction.
