Abstract

This study examined the impact of Preferred Fiber (PF) choices (i.e., regenerative, recycled, and organic) on the merchandising strategies of EU and U.S. retailers for sustainable apparel. Utilizing unique product-level data, the study analyzed the differences and similarities in product assortment and pricing among garments made with these PFs. The study’s findings addressed a critical research gap and significantly enhanced our understanding of the business and operational implications of PF adoption. The results could also assist retailers in launching sustainable apparel products.
