Abstract

With the advent of the digital age, the fashion industry is encountering waves of innovative changes. In particular, the rise of virtual fashion integrates emerging technologies into fashion, enabling new forms of creation and consumption (Awear, 2023). This shift is especially pronounced in new digital spaces like the metaverse, providing an experience that transcends the boundaries of virtual and physical realms (Dwivedi et al., 2022). However, consumers, while intrigued, are often unclear about the value and utility of virtual fashion. Thus, this study delves into the realm of virtual fashion, analyzing articles posted on Instagram to understand the media discourse around virtual fashion and its evolution, and to connect it with broader trends in the fashion industry. This research employs semantic network analysis (SNA) to investigate key discourses and themes around virtual fashion. SNA is an effective method for discovering meanings within extensive raw text data, illuminating key messages and structures.
