Abstract

This study developed assistive bands for laterally wedged insoles to enhance genu varum correction. Three prototypes were tested on Stage 2 genu varum participants (knee gap: 2.5–5 cm). Design 1 reduced the knee gap by 19.96% and increased the Q-angle by 14.45%, while Design 3 reduced the knee gap by 17.85% and increased the Q-angle by 13.77%. Design 3 also achieved the highest wearer satisfaction score of 6.12 out of 7. These bands are designed for both indoor and outdoor use, supporting long-term wearability and effective correction. Further studies with larger sample sizes and extended wear durations are recommended to validate these findings.
