Abstract

The emergence of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has marked a significant leveraging aspect in numerous creative industries. In fashion design, this technology has the potential to revolutionize the way designers conceptualize, develop, and refine their creations, enabling the generation of novel design ideas, patterns, and even entire collections from minimal input.  This paper is a case study that aims to compare the pros and cons of three AI engines (DALL-E, Midjourney, and Adobe Firefly), examining their capabilities, limitations, and suitability for fashion curriculum. By analyzing each tool's unique features and practical applications in fashion design, this study seeks to provide insights into how generative AI can enhance creative processes, streamline design development, and foster innovation in the fashion industry. It is shown that AI is capable of rapid design development with a spectrum of design aspects.
