Abstract

As fashion e-commerce grows, online returns are on the rise. The primary reason for apparel returns is fit and size issues. This qualitative study investigated how online customers react to apparel wear simulation, which allows customers to see human body-garment interactions, such as dynamic changes in the drape of a garment and cloth deformations caused by different body movements, focusing on golf apparel. 13 female participants (age: 41.6 ± 9.8 years) took part in randomized experiments where three demo websites were shown. The findings indicated that the perceived usefulness of golf apparel wear simulation was high, and there was a clear demand for a new interface that helps online customers better assess the fit and size of apparel items. It is also expected that golf apparel wear simulation may serve as an effective product display tool for sport-specific garments with careful attention to interactivity, relevant motions, and realistic fabric simulation.
