Abstract

This fiber piece is a radially formed basket created with a neck cord and designed to wear over the chest area. One could transport hidden objects of significance within the round pouch. The pouch is made of flax cord and waxed cotton using a knotting and coiling method. The surface decoration was designed in a symmetrical configuration to give a reference to past civilizations with feathers, metal discs, and a single frosted stone. The round piece is adorned with horse hair tassels that flank each side. The neck cord is embellished with knotted ribbon and enameled beads.
