Assistant Professor: The First Year

The inspiration and challenge for this cotton quilt include the use of curved seam lines and strong visual contrast. Equal sized squares-two squares of black fabric, one square of white, and one square of periwinkle blue-were stacked. Using a rotary cutter, curved lines extending from one edge to opposite edges and also to adjacent edges were cut through all four layers. This created identical shapes on each of the four layers.
