Abstract

Through this creative endeavor, the six design steps of the FEA framework were utilized to develop the fashion-forward garment aimed to ease anxiety in the wearer. Based on literature review and data collected via the developed online survey, four fashion-forward garments, which can help manage anxiety, were designed, the four designs incorporated different fidget components and embodied various styles and aesthetics. Among the four prototypes, design B with the various textures in the kangaroo pocket was selected as the most preferred design. To improve the prototypes, some design components and their fidget elements may change during implementation, as suggested from the focus group interview. This research was successful in fulfilling a market need through the development of an affordable yet stylish garment, aimed to ease anxiety in the wearer.
