Abstract
Soybean planting timing and cultivar maturity selection strongly influence yield and production risk in Iowa because crop development responds to temperature and photoperiod. Warmer springs and more frequent late season moisture stress have increased interest in planting earlier, yet research for planting before April 25 remains limited. Under ultra early planting, maturity selection can shift both yield potential and overall disease risk, which may also affect the value of in-season foliar protection. This study aims to quantify how planting time, maturity selection, and foliar fungicide application influence soybean grain yield across Iowa environments, providing practical information to support management decisions.
