Abstract

Turfgrass cultivars are being released for improved performance and fewer inputs. The National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) tests cultivar performance for various species around the United States with various maintenance and environmental conditions. These trials help turfgrass breeders decide which experimental cultivars should be brought to market and end-users gain access to data on turfgrass cultivar performance in their regions. There are also standard entries of existing commercially available cultivars in the trials to compare experimental cultivars against.
