Soap and Education: Archival Training, Public Service, and the Profession—An Essay
Abstract
Although archival training programs have proliferated in the past ten years, a fundamental concept has been left out of them, namely, that of service to the client. Because service has been removed from training, it less and less appears in archival work. Professional recognition and support will be enhanced greatly if service to all of the profession's clients becomes a foundation of archival training programs and, therefore, archival work.
