Abstract

Timing of anabolic implant administration relative to caloric intake can have impact on the outcome of final carcass measures at harvest.  Waiting to implant until caloric intake of NEm was twice the need for an animal’s maintenance requirements resulted in increased carcass weight and carcass ribeye area over those steers implanted at a lower NEm intake relative to maintenance needs.
