Abstract

Maternity and postpartum clothing pose unique challenges due to the fluctuating body shapes and sizes experienced by breastfeeding and postpartum mothers (Chauhan & Tadi, 2023). This research endeavors to address these challenges by exploring a holistic design development approach utilizing 3D body scanning technology, visual analysis, and embodied experience. The primary objective is to identify the physical obstacles and challenges inherent in breastfeeding and postpartum mothers as a specialized market segment. Leveraging advanced technologies such as 3D body scanning and 3D design software, this study aims to facilitate collaborative product development and support design for specialized markets like maternity, postpartum, and plus-size apparel (Cieśla et al., 2020; Jalil & Shanat, 2022; Mohamed et al., 2023; Paganelli, 2021).

Keywords: body scanning, technology, motherhood, postpartum
