Haneen: Connecting Cultures through Craft

Authors: , ,

The purpose of this design is to experiment to incorporate two distinct cultures within the production of a garment which is representative of the Scottish lifestyle as well as the Saudi heritage rich in intricate design elements. The paper demonstrates this through the creation of a high-end fashion brand named “Haneen” representing the message of nostalgia and memorable traditions in a changing world. It provides input on traditional Saudi dressing with their unique embroidery and craft techniques, as well as the fabrics and silhouettes predominant to contemporary Scottish outerwear. The FEA model provided a framework for integrating Saudi and Scottish cultures for the intended users, who are both dignified males and females between the ages of 25 and 40 and are demographically located in Saudi Arabia and Scotland. The design was developed to connect cultures by craft enhances and fashion design.
