Abstract

This fiber piece is an interpretation of a chalice in fiber and metal. The bowl-shaped cup is created with dyed waxed linen using a knotting method and brushed with copper. The top is created with alternating amber and wine colored cording. Metal discs complete the embellishment. The stem is made of a woven copper mesh supported by a wooden base wrapped with alternating linen cords. The piece is a study in symmetrical design with the cup being flanked by a spray of feathers supported by two-toned metal wire twisted to create a linear spiral configuration.
