Each year a significant number of flowers are disposed all over the world after a single use at places of worship, and on special occasions. Such disposal of waste can create problems like eel and worm development, water and land pollution, and foul odor. Eco-printing and plant pounding are gaining popularity as sustainable methods to color and print textiles. Pounding plants is the transfer of plant pigment onto textiles through the mechanical force of hammering. The purpose of this project was to explore techniques of pounding flora onto fabric to produce botanical prints, as a value-added method for floral waste. In addition, design a zero-waste garment from the printed textile.
